Peterson PTA is the local unit of the national Parent Teacher Association. We are a membership organization open to parents/guardians, teachers, relatives, and community members who support the PTA Mission:

Why Join Peterson PTA?

·       It will benefit your child! Research shows that regardless of income or background, when parents are involved at school students are more likely to earn higher grades, enroll in higher-level programs, attend school regularly, have better social skills, graduate, and go on college.  


·       *Find out what’s going on at school! PTA fosters positive communication between parents and the school. Members are also eligible to vote on PTA programs and business decisions.

We have two levels of membership:  Golden Paw Membership or Purple Paw Membership


Are you tired of writing a check for each event?  Do you want to put an end to asking your child if they turned in their money? Want to write one check and forget about it? Do you want to help support our school?  If you answered "Yes", this program is for you.


Peterson Golden Paw membership is a one-time check/membership that eliminates the need to write multiple checks throughout the school year for PTA sponsored events. 



Peterson PTA, along with State and National PTA's, invite you to become a member of our organization!  The PTA is dedicated to providing programs and activities that directly benefit your children.  A portion of your PTA dues goes directly into the Peterson PTA budget to help provide funding for educational and extracurricular activities such as:  assemblies, field trips, after-school programs, school dances, in-school events, social activities, etc.



We need you to make great experiences and events for our children!  Please let us know if are interested in supporting our students as a volunteer.

If your child has an artistic side, this is the time to start planning for this year's National PTA's Reflections Arts Program.  Reflections, which has been running in public schools across the country for several years, is a program that allows students to submit their original creative works in different categories to compete for national awards and recognition.  The entries are judged at a school level and a maximum of five entries in each category per grade division advance to the national level where they are pitted against entries from other schools.

This year's Reflections theme is
"Heroes Around Me".  Entries are due by October 19, 2018 and can be submitted to the students' homeroom teachers.  Entries can be submitted in one or more of the seven categories:

  • Visual Arts
  • Photography
  • Literature
  • Music Composition
  • Dance Choreography
  • Film Production
  • Special Artist (Students who have a disability and may recieve services under IDEA or ADA: Section 504 may enter in the category)

    Each original work must meet the applicable submission guidelines and must be accompanied by a completed form (see below).  If you have any questions or need more information, please reach out to Peterson's Reflection Chair, Christine Paik (

Spirit Wear

The 2018-2019 school year is here, and with a new school year comes new spirit wear designs!  This year you will find plenty of options so you can get your spirit wear apparel the way you really want.  Think performance shirts, comfy sweatshirts/hoodies, and personalization.
Directions for ordering online:

Once you place your spirit wear order, you will receive an email confirmation and your order will be passed out at school and sent home with your children.

Be sure to click on each design because you will be able to see sizing specs as well as the possibly to personalize the apparel.

Monster Mash Bash:
Monster Mash Bash only two weeks away!  Please join us at Peterson on Saturday, October 13th from 1pm-3pm.  We have an exciting afternoon planned which will include a Cake Walk, Games, Bingo, a Magician and several Inflatables!  Don’t forget to pre-order your wristbands, please copy and paste this link into a new web browser:  Wristband Order Form

Please pre-order your wristbands by October 5th.  Wristbands cost $8.00 per child for Purple Paw PTA Members if ordered by October 5th.  Wristbands cost $10.00 per child for Non-PTA Members if ordered by October 5th.  After October 5th, payments will no longer be accepted at school.  Wristbands will be available for purchase at the door the day of the event.  The cost is $10.00 for Purple Paw PTA Members and $15.00 for Non-PTA Members.  All students need a wristband to participate in all the activities.

We still need volunteers to make this event a success.  Thank you to those who have already volunteered.  Without volunteers, we can’t run all the activities we have planned so please consider volunteering.  If you can help, please sign up at Monster Mash Bash Sign-up Genius

We also still need donations for the Cake Walk. All cakes, brownies, cookies, cupcakes, etc. need to be store-bought packaged items with the ingredients on them. We are asking that winners do not eat or open the items at the event. Please note this year the Cake Walk will be held in the gym. Please consider donating store-bought baked goods for the Cake Walk.  This is one of the favorite activities at the Monster Mash Bash and more goodies results in more winners! If you can donate, please indicate that when you order your wristbands. More details about drop-off to come!

Watch D.O.G.S.

WHAT IS WATCH D.O.G.S. (Dads of Great Students)?

It is an innovative program to increase positive male role model involvement at the school. The two main goals of the program are to demonstrate the importance of education and to reduce bullying.



WatchDOGS are fathers or father figures who volunteer at the school and become actively engaged with multiple students, including their own child(ren).



Your time spent volunteering will be meaningful to the teachers, students, and of course, yourself! Teachers may assign you tasks like read to a small group, review math facts, play an educational game, correct assignments with a student, review spelling words, or assist in a group project. You might also assist with morning bus duty. There are many different ways you can get involved.



There are two ways to participate:


OPTION 1-Instructional volunteer opportunities are from 8:40-10:45 on either Tuesday or Thursday. You will also have an opportunity to extend your day by helping with lunch/recess supervision. *Prior arrangements must be made.

OPTION 2- You can assist with lunch and recess supervision during your child(ren)’s lunch period(s). There will be no instructional time. Please enter and re-enter the building during your child(ren)’s lunch periods only.

Please choose only one date per family. By doing so, this will allow other dads to volunteer. We will try our best to accommodate your schedule, however if there is a conflict, we will contact you.  Your volunteer day will include being with your child(ren), as well as being with other Peterson students.

Box Tops:
 Peterson gets 10 cents for every label turned in.  A complete list of items can be found at  

Peterson earned $1,100.00 last year.  There is a collection box in every room and several collection contests through the year.  Have your child bring the ones you save each week or save them for the contests throughout the year.
Inkjet and toner cartridges are also collected at Peterson.
