Reported by on 9/25/18

If your child has an artistic side, this is the time to start planning for this year’s National PTA’s Reflections Arts program. Reflections, which has been running in public schools across the country for several years, is a program that allows students to submit their original creative works in different categories to compete for national awards and recognition. The entries are judged at a school level and a maximum of five entries in each category per grade division advance to the national level where they are pitted against entries from other schools.

This year’s Reflections theme is “HEROES AROUND ME” Entries are due by Friday October 19th 2018 and can be submitted to the students’ home room teachers. Entries can be submitted in one or more of the six available categories – Visual Arts, Photography, Literature, Music Composition, Dance Choreography and Film Production. There is also a Special Artist category for students with disabilities who receive services under IDEA or Section 504.

Each original work must meet the applicable Submissions Guidelines and must be accompanied by a completed form (attached to this email). If you have any questions or need more information, please reach out to our Reflections Chair, Christine Paik (
